In a statement by the Federal Ministry of Economics, it has been suggested that industrial production in Germany is gradually stabilizing, despite ongoing uncertainties due to geopolitical framework conditions and the development of domestic and foreign demand.

Despite a 0.1% decrease in industrial production in the three-month comparison from May to July, the latest data shows a positive trend. This decrease was primarily due to a slight dip in industrial production in May and June, which was partially offset by an increase in July.

The increase in July was driven by several sectors. Production in the automotive industry, machinery sector, and energy-intensive industries all saw significant growth, contributing to the overall increase. The automotive sector's growth was particularly notable, with the automobile manufacturer, Volkswagen, playing a key role in the revision of production figures.

Volkswagen had initially reported a decrease in production in July, leading to a significant upward revision of production figures for June. This revision showed that industrial production decreased by 0.1% in June, instead of the previously reported 1.9%. Despite this revision, the increase in production in July was not affected.

The pharmaceutical industry also contributed to the overall increase in industrial production in July. Production in this sector saw a notable growth, further strengthening the positive trend.

The ministry also noted that the industrial economy appears to be painting a somewhat more favorable picture. The increase in production in energy-intensive industries was a significant contributor to this positive trend, with production in these industries increasing by 0.4 percent in July.

However, the ministry cautioned that uncertainties remain high due to geopolitical framework conditions and the development of domestic and foreign demand. Despite these uncertainties, the current data suggests a gradual stabilization in industrial production, offering a glimmer of hope for the German economy.

Industrial production in Germany increased by 1.3% in July compared to June, marking a positive step towards stability. As the situation continues to evolve, close monitoring of industrial production will be crucial in understanding the health of the German economy.
